Lorenzo Priuli (1556-59) gold Zecchino ND UNC Details (Harshly Cleaned) NGC, Paolucci-64.1, CNI-VIIb.53var (with pellet before Doge's name and above S). • LAVR • PRIOI (or L?) | • S | • M | • V | E | N | E | T, Doge kneeling left before St. Mark (standing right), receiving banner, DVX (stacked to right); pellet above head / SIT T XPE DΛT V Q TV REGIS ISTE DV, Christ in glory (surrounded by mandorla), book of Gospels in left hand, raising right in benediction, six stars to either side. A quite pleasant piece to view in hand that, despite the "harshly cleaned" modifier on the slab, retains numerous signs of die polish lines and remnants of the engraver's guide around the legends. To the present cataloger, it seems likely that the coin was likely cleaned to remove deposits from around the legends, a somewhat small price to pay for what is otherwise a handsome piece.
