Beautifully designed in neoclassical fashion, this commemorative issue celebrates the 50th anniversary of the unification of Italy and the founding of the Kingdom. Both sides display clear, yet even, wear that does not dilute many of the intricate details of devices. Preserved on a perfectly yellow-golden medium, it does not seem out of place to count such a piece among the pinnacles of 20th century Italian art, as well as coinage.
