Charles III 8 Reales 1776 Mo-FM AU53 PCGS, Mexico City mint, KM106.2, Calico-921. Easily the most popular, and many might say historic, date of the portrait 8 reales series, owing to there acceptance as currency in the newly established United States. The present example exhibits sharp details and dark, gunmetal surfaces that scream of the beauty of aged silver. A lightly reddish tone clings to the legends, while the reverse fields turn to a lighter, golden hue. While a scattering of contact marks is to be noted for the sake of completeness, they do little to distract from this coin's high level of appeal.
