Australia Reserve Bank of Australia $10 26.1.1988 Pick 49s Rennicks SP29a Specimen. This was the note that, after years of research by CSIRO, introduced to the world the feasibility of printing banknotes on a polymer substrate. The "Guardian" substrate proved to be conducive to Australian banknotes, as the previous cotton-based banknotes did not hold up well in the Australian climate, and were very susceptible to counterfeiting. Specimen Australian notes are very elusive as they are well tracked by the RBA, resulting in the dearth of them in the market. The first prefix AA allocated to collectors appears on this note with a solid 0 serial number. A Specimen number 0654 graces this well preserved example. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. HID08701242017
