Danish West Indies National Bank 10 Francs 1905 Pick 18a. A note that could enter either a world or United States collection as the US acquired these islands from neutral Denmark on March 31, 1917 for $25,000,000 in gold. The reasoning behind the purchase was to help guard the approach to the Panama Canal and also to keep the islands from a possible seizure by the Germans during World War I. The example in this lot is in a comment free holder and grades PMG Very Fine 20. We had a PMG 20 Net with splits secure a winning bid of $4,230 in April 2016. HID08701242017
