Iran Bank Melli Iran 10,000 Rials AH1316 (1937) Pick 38Bs1 Modified Specimen Note. Just when you think you have seen everything, something like this pops up. The host note for this printer alteration is a Pick 38Bs with a portrait of the Shah facing perhaps one quarter left. TDLR then attached a different portrait of the Shah facing further left (from Pick 38C) over the original portrait. This alteration can be detected by backlighting the note. As if by magic, a composite portrait with two noses, two mustaches, and three eyes appears. The addition of the portrait was expertly done by TDLR and cannot be detected without the use of a back light. The date of this alteration is further pinpointed by a penciled date in the lower right margin of 1.2.38. PMG grades this intriguing note Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
