World Currency
Australia Commonwealth of Australia £50 ND (1918) Pick 8b R67a. A very appealing high denomination with an all original EPQ designation. Renniks 66 is unknown in private hands, and this is one of just two survivors of R67a. Its stunning originality makes it the most desirable of the two. A flock of sheep at Bungaree in South Australia is depicted on the back of this grandly sized example. Like other high denominations greater than £10 of this series, they were subject to a recall after World War II, after which they lost their legal tender status. This example is from the second series, with Cerutty-Collins signatures and small serial numbers between Y083846 and Y176000. This example is also the plate note on page 235 in the 27th edition of the Renniks Australian Coin and Banknote Guide, and is also on page 132 of the Dauer tome on Australian Currency. PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ. From the Drs. Joanne and Edward Dauer Collection of Australian Banknotes HID08701242017

Estimate: 60000-80000 USD
