Australia Camp Hay 6 Pence 1.3.1941 AU-910a SB551a. Camp Hay, or Hay Internment and POW camps, was established during World War II in Hay, New South Wales. The isolated camps held personnel from European Jewish refugees to Japanese internees and POWs. As the population grew, so did the economy based on farming and small manufacturing, and a currency was needed to facilitate transactions. Three denominations were issued, six pence, one shilling, and two shillings. This is the only pack fresh example of any denomination we have offered. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. From the Drs.
