German East Africa Deutsch-Ostafrikanische Bank 1 Rupee 1.7.1917 Pick 28. A "bush" note printed in the veldt on the back of German Colonial letterhead stationery. A child's toy printing press was found at a farm by German forces commanded by General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck during their guerilla campaign. The press was employed to print much needed paper money. The letterhead in this case was that of the Imperial District Substation with the German text being, "When answering, you will be asked to provide your prospective business number."
