Italy Banca d'Italia 1000 Lire 8.3.1945 Pick 72c. The design of this large high denomination note is one of those that you can find something new in every time you look at it, with lots of cherubs, putti, angels, and allegorical figures. Issued in the Spring of 1945, near the end of World War II, this note has seen a major tear somewhat ineptly repaired with tape that has started to turn bad some seventy plus years later.
