Turkey Central Bank of Turkey 50 Kurus L. 1930 (26.6.1944) Pick 134 Potential Error/Progress Proof. This design, printed in Germany during World War II , was necessitated by the loss of an earlier design (Pick 133) when the Germans sank a freighter carrying a shipment of the earlier notes in Piraeus Harbor in Greece early in the War. The exact nature of this note is unclear; it is missing the green printing on the face. It may either be a progress proof, showing the brown ink elements or it may be an error.
