The drachm coinage of Phalanna is actually quite rare, especially in this condition. The similarity of the youthful male head on the obverse to that of the head of Apollo found on the gold staters of Philip II suggests that it may have been copied from the latter. However, the precise identity of the head has never been confirmed: the lack of a wreath makes it more likely that it is mean to be Ares instead of Apollo.
