Vespasian. A.D. 69-79. AR denarius (18.95 mm, 2.62 g, 7 h). Rome mint, Struck A.D. 77/8. IMP CAESAR [VESPASIANVS AV]G (ccw), laureate head of Vespasian left / COS VIII, Mars standing facing holding spear and trophy; grain-ear to right. (new) RIC II, 140 (old RIC II 104); RSC 127; . Rough VF, gray patina, striking weakness makes most of legend illegible. Rare with grain-ear in field.
