IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P, laureate bust of Trajan right, drapery on left shoulder / S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI, Mars striding left holding small figure of Victory and carrying trophy. RIC 154; RSC 371. VF, lightly patinated, mainly gray but with some reddish-ochre areas, damage resulting in porosity across the high points of the portrait and deep scratches obverse; lighter scratches reverse, and an area appearing to have had a lamination failure in antiquity.
