An excellent Tairona stone celt from Colombia, ca. 1000 - 1500 A.D. It is 6-1/2? long and is carved from speckled blue-gray stone. The deep groove on the butt end was made as part of the hafting process. Rare type with good mineral deposits. Ex Melnick collection. Value range: $300 - $500.
