Terracotta Painted Female Bust. Italian or Etruscan, ca. 500 BC. Half-length bust of woman holding snake (Hygieia?), wearing long gown with hair in sakkos, much red paint remaining on gown. Broken from larger statue with head reattached and repaired break on body, chips to rear, etc. On custom stand. These statues are very rare and always reassembled even in National Collections. ex. E.
