William IV (1830-37), silver Rupee, 1835, struck for the East India Company at Calcutta, bare head right, initials RS incuse on truncation for engraver Robert Saunders, thin obverse letter legend with beaded outer border, WILLIAM IIII, KING., rev. ONE / RUPEE / and Indian script within laurel wreath, date below with stop, EAST INDIA COMPANY surrounding, wreath ends close with two leave upper right variety, extra berry on upper left leaf group, large gap between last N of legend and wreath, weight 11.67g (SW 1.37 dies B/I; Pr.32; KM 450.7). Toned, almost extremely fine and a very rare die variety.

Ex Baldwin Auction 63, 30th September 2009, lot 1837, when previously graded and slabbed by PCGS as AU55.
Mintage: 15,758,812 for RS variety, the smallest of the three types for this issue.
