George II (1727-60), cut portion of a gold Five Guineas, 1746, LIMA gold issue, this and the next lot consist of 50% each of the same coin, this piece being the left half when viewed from the obverse where the incised cut has occurred from 11 to 5 o'clock, therefore LIMA visible below the bust, weight 21.08g (S.3665). Before this piece of numismatic desecration occurred, the coin was evidently in better than very fine condition; the most interesting aspect of the cut is that the interior gold is in part visible where not incised, and it has a sponge like texture.
