Victoria (1837-1901), gold Proof Half-Sovereign, 1839, first young head left, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. inverted die axis, crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINIA FID: DEF:, edge plain, weight 3.93g (WR 343; Marsh 414A; S.3859). Brilliant, very few light hairlines in field, longer hairline on cheek, otherwise a superb example, practically as struck, becoming rare in the UK market-place.

Usually issued as part of the proof set of coins dated 1839 of which 400 were issued.
