Uncertain type, c/m: head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin, within incuse circle / Uncertain type. Westermark, Coinage, p. 166; CNS 92 CM. Host coin poor; countermark VF, dark green patina, some roughness.
The types here are completely obliterated, but this countermark is typically found on the eagle/crab hemilitra of Akragas. Westermark's new die study of the early coins of Akragas confirm an earlier suggestion by Consolo Langher that this countermark was applied to coins during the circa 405-392 BC Punic domination of the city.
