KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.92 g, 8 h), Babylon, struck by Archon, Dokimos, or Seleukos I, under Philip III, circa 323-318/7. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, M; below throne, ΛY. Price 3692. Darkly toned. Minor scrape on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
