KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.17 g, 8 h), Babylon, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram within wreath; below throne, H. Price 3704. A boldly struck example of fine style. Minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
