ISLAMIC, Time of the Rashidun. Pseudo-Byzantine types. Fals (Bronze, 21 mm, 2.15 g, 9 h), uncertain mint, probably after 26/7 AH / 647 AD . [...] IITS Draped imperial bust facing, wearing crown with cross, holding globus cruciger in her right hand. Rev. Large M between blundered legends; above, cross and crescent; below; uncertain letter; in lower left field, crescent; in exergue, three pellets. Cf. H. Pottier, I. Cf. Schulze and W. Schulze: 'Pseudo-Byzantine Coinage under Arab Rule', in: RBN 154 (2008), p. 89, class III.1a (for earlier issues of this type). Rare. About very fine.

From a collection of Arab-Byzantine and Crusader coins, formed in the 1990s.

The few blundered remnants of the INPER CONST legend on the obverse, the crude style and the light weight indicate that this type was struck over a longer period of time than the usually proposed years of 24/5-26/7 AH / 645-647 AD.
