ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Mu'awiya I ibn Abi Sufyan, AH 41-60 / AD 661-680. Fals (Bronze, 20 mm, 3.09 g, 6 h), Arab-Byzantine type, Hims. K/A/Λ/O/N ('good' in Greek) downwards in left field; in right field, mint bi-hims ('in Hims' in Kufic); in lower right field, six-pointed star Imperial bust facing, wearing diadem surmounted by cross, paludamentum and cuirass, holding globus cruciger in his right hand. Rev. Large m between E/M/I - C/H/C; above, eight-pointed star between pellets within circles; in exergue tayyib ('good' in Kufic). DOCAB 69. Beautiful earthen highlights. Very fine.
