KINGS OF MACEDON. Antigonos III Doson, 229-221 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 30 mm, 14.57 g, 1 h), irregular mint, imitating Amphipolis, after circa 227-225. Head of Poseidon to right, wearing wreath of seaweed. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΓΟΝΟΥ Apollo seated to left on prow, holding bow in his right hand; below, monogram. Cf. SNG Alpha Bank 1046 (for prototype). A well made contemporary plated forgery. Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, about extremely fine.
