PAPHLAGONIA. Sinope. Circa 490-425 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 5.82 g). Head of a sea-eagle to left, with 'talon', and dolphin below (both off flan here); on eagle, countermark of a male head to left within round incuse. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with two opposing quarters filled, the others stippled and with pellet. HGC 7, 384.. SNG BM Black Sea 1359-1363. An interesting issue with a charming countermark. Test cut on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
