PAMPHYLIA. Side. Circa 205-100 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 14.81 g, 12 h), uncertain magistrate, circa 200-190. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet; on bowl, countermark: Seleukid anchor within oval incuse; behind, countermark: bee within oval incuse. Rev. Nike advancing to left, holding wreath in her right hand; to left, pomegranate. SNG Paris 660-720. The bee countermark double struck, otherwise, fine.

While the anchor countermark was applied by Seleukid authorities, the bee is the coat-of-arms of Ephesos. It is part of a series of similar countermarks used by a number of cities to revaluate old Attic weight coins to the cistophoric coinage introduced in circa 180 BC.
