CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Remi. Late 2nd-mid 1st century BC. Stater (Gold, 17 mm, 6.16 g, 3 h), 'à l'oeil' type. Devolved laureate male head to right. Rev. Celticized horse galloping to left, horseman transformed into a V-shaped figure within a heart-shaped ornament; below, pellet-within-annulet within circle of pearls over ornamented ground line ending in a star. DT 173-174 var. (differing reverse symbols). LT 8799 var. (differing reverse symbol). A rare variety. Surfaces polished and with some areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.
