ISLANDS OFF IONIA, Samos. Philip II, as Caesar, 244-247. Diassarion (Bronze, 23 mm, 5.50 g, 7 h). M•IOYΛI•ΦIΛIΠΠOC•KAICAP• Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip II to right, seen from behind. Rev. CAMI-ΩN River-god Imbrasos reclining to left on urn from which water flows, holding reed in his right hand and cornucopuae with his left. BMC 334. SNG Copenhagen 1777. Rare. A sharply struck piece with a lovely portrait. Very light roughness on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
