The reverse of this interesting issue shows the victorious Septimius Severus in front of the Mount Argaios. It must have been struck shortly after the defeat of the forces of Pescennius Niger against the army of Septimius Severus at Cyzicus in mid 193 and Nikaia in the winter of 193/4 and boasts the loyalty of Caesarea to the winner of the civil war.
