P. Sepullius Macer, 44 BC. Sestertius (Subaeratus, 10 mm, 0.77 g, 1 h), irregular mint. Draped bust of Mercury to right, wearing petasos and holding caduceus over shoulder. Rev. P•SEPVLLIVS Caduceus. Cf. Babelon (Sepullia) 11, Crawford 480/27, RBW 1693 and Sydenham 1080 (for prototype). Extremely rare. Minor breaks in plating and the reverse struck off center, otherwise, very fine.
