Elagabalus, 218-222. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 22 mm, 9.03 g, 11 h), Rome, 221. IMP CAES M AVR ANTONINVS PIVS AVG Radiate and draped bust of Elagabalus to right, wearing 'horn' over forehead, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P V COS IIII P P / S - C Elagabalus standing front, head to left, sacrificing out of patera over lighted altar with his right hand and holding cypress-branch in his left; in field to right, star. BMC 455 var. (bust seen from front). Cohen 216. RIC 335. A very rare variety. Struck on a slightly short flan and with minor deposits, otherwise, very fine.
