ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 525-500 BC. Stater (Silver, 19 mm, 9.61 g). Nude ithyphallic satyr, with long beard and long hair, moving right in 'running-kneeling' position, holding a nymph in his arms, who raises her right hand in protest. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square of windmill pattern. Le Rider, Thasiennes 1. SNG Copenhagen 1007. Very rare and of powerful Archaic style. The obverse struck somewhat off center and with some deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
