(x) Stephen (1135-54), Penny, 1.32g, Cross Pommée (Awbridge) type, Exeter, Ailric, crowned and bearded bust three-quarters left, holding sceptre in right hand, rev. ailric [...], voided cross within beaded quatrefoil, a fleur in each angle springing from the quatrefoil (BMC 191 same reverse die; Elmore-Jones, BNJ XXVIII, pl. XXXI, no. 7; Mack 107; N.881; S.1282), reverse off-centre and legends weak, otherwise very fine, an extremely rare type for Exeter.
