SCOTLAND. James VI. 1567-1625. AR Half merk (31mm, 5.69 g, 5h). Second coinage. Edinburgh mint. Dated 1577. Crowned coat-of-arms; numerals 6 and 8 flanking / Cross fleurée with five-rayed star at center; alternating crowns and thistles in quarters; thistles in first and fourth quarters. SCBI 35 (Ashmolean & Hunterian) 1225-6; SCBC 5478. Fine, toned, flan cracks.
