Phoenicia, Tyre. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Late 1st century A.D. Æ (24 mm, 10.29 g, 1 h). CY 224 (A.D. 98/9). Laureate head of Melqart-Herakles right, lion's skin tied at neck; in right field, star / MH-TPO/ΠOΛE-ωΣ in two lines across field divided by club with monogram of Tyre; below, date (ΔΚΣ) and Phoenician legend; all within oak-wreath. Cf. RPC 3879 (no star); cf. BMC 331. Black patina. Very fine.
