Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (22 mm, 4.51 g, 6 h). Rome, A.D. 238. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / IOVI CONSE-RVATORI, Jupiter standing facing, head left, holding thunderbolt and scepter; at his feet to left, small figure of the emperor standing left. RIC 2; RSC 105. Good very fine.

The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
