Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (21 mm, 4.51 g, 12 h). Rome, A.D. 239. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / VIR-TV-S AVG, Virtus standing facing, head left, holding branch and spear; shield resting at his side. RIC IV 39; RSC 383. Nice very fine.

The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
