Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (22 mm, 3.78 g, 7 h). Rome, A.D. 243/4. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / VICTORIA AETERNA, Victory standing facing, head left, supporting grounded shield and holding palm branch; at her feet to left, bound captive seated left. RIC 156; RSC 353. Very fine.

The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
