Gordian III. A.D. 238-244. AR antoninianus (23 mm, 4.22 g, 12 h). Antioch, A.D. 242-244. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right / ORIE-NS AVG, Sol standing facing, head left, raising arm and holding globe. RIC 213; RSC 167. Good very fine.

The St. Jean d'Ardieres Hoard consisted of 4,100 antoniniani and three denarii struck from 215 until 252. It was studied by Vincent Drost and his results published in Trésors Monétaires.
