Kochhiputra Sri Satakarni. Ca. 60-40 B.C. Æ (14 mm, 1.96 g). Bull standing right, with Brahmi legend (Ko)chhiputasa Siri above / Tree-in-railing. Pieper 657. A boldly struck specimen with the king's name (Ko)chhiputasa clearly visible on obverse. Rare and choice. Brown patina. Nice fine.

The Satavahana Empire controlled the Deccan and central India for over three centuries after the fall of the Mauryas. This bull type was issued by Kochhiputra in the Newasa-Paithan region.
