Makugupta?. 5th century A.D. AR drachm (14 mm, 2.12 g). King's bust facing right with traces of legend around / Garuda standing facing, with Brahmi legend around:
Parama bhagavata Maharajadhiraja Sri Makugupta Mahendraditya (Having conquered the Earth and the lords of the Earth, Makugupta wins the Heavens). Apparently unpublished. Unique. A lovely specimens! Toned. Good very fine.
The name Makugupta is clearly visible on the reverse of this coin. Is this a new Gupta king who ruled after Kumaragupta? Or a new legend for Kumaragupta himself? Either way this specimen is unlisted and is an important addition to Gupta coinage.
