Paramanti. 13th century. Æ stater (18 mm, 5.96 g). Goddess Lakshmi seated facing, flanked by Nagari letters in two lines Sri Pa/ra/ma/nti / King standing sacrificing at altar, with Nagari legend Deva to right. MNI -. An extremely rare and important coin. One of the great rarities in Kashmir coinage. Green and brown patina. Choice very fine. 

Paramanti is an unrecorded king of Kashmir. He probably ruled briefly in the late Hindu period, just before the Islamic takeover. This specimen has his complete name Paramanti, making the attribution irrefutable.
