Bhanudeva III. 1352-1378. AV fanam (9 mm, 0.48 g, 1 h). RY 3. Stylized bull couchant right on a platform, with prominent horns above, circle before with single dots above and below, sun and two moons above, goad behind, dot below / Stylized letter sa, for samvat (year), flanked by goad and battle axe, Anka date 3 (=RY 1-2) below. Cf. MNI 677; P. Tandon, "Tentative Attributions of some gold fanams of the Eastern Gangas," Numismatic Digest, 34-35, 3.07 (this coin). Although still quite rare, these coins were virtually unattainable until the recent appearance of a small hoard.
