Charles I (1625-49), Pattern Halfcrown, 1628, by Nicholas Briot, 15.27g, armoured King on horseback right, sword over right shoulder, grass ground line below, signed .n. briot. f. in exergue, rev. crowned oval-garnished shield dividing date (Brooker 1258; ESC 497; N.2673), slight edge striking flaw at 11 o'clock, nonetheless a bold portrait, very fine, rare.
