An exceptionally important and large crème jade seal
Of square form, the top decorated with incised Taotie mask, the sides engraved with archaic texts, the underside bearing a seal in formal scripture. The jade stone calcified in some areas and mottled with brown.
Measurements: 8.5cm x 8.5cm, Height: 3.8cm
Style of: Apparently Northern Song (960-1126) or earlier, age determination uncertain
The use of jade suggests that this seal would have belonged to an important person or a group of dignitaries
