A beautiful and very rare "Gu" shaped bronze vase
Carved in the archaistic "Gu"-shape, with a projecting central section between the tall flaring neck with a trumpet-shaped mouth and the tall spreading foot. Its lower exterior surfaces carved in low relief with Taotie masks within scrolls and curving lines. On the foot a pictograph (to be found in W. Watson, Ancient Chinese Bronzes, pg. 81, fig. 6).With a very fine bright silver patina.
