KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.17 g, 4 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, circa 324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, Nike flying left, holding wreath; below throne, monogram above M. Price 3625. An excellent lifetime tetradrachm struck in high relief from dies of fine style. Very minor doubling on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
