Thessaly, Gyrton.
Ca. 350-330 BC. Æ dichalkon, 3.55 g. Head of the hero Gyrton right, to left head of a bridled horse to right / ΓΥΡΤΩΝΙΩΝ head of nymph Gyrtona rightBCD Thessaly II 78. Very fine. The coinage of Gyrton is quite extensive, but is primarily in bronze. The earliest issues are those, like this one, which bear the 'jugate' heads of Gyrton and his horse combined with a head of Gyrtona on the reverse.
