While the engraver responsible for the obverse of this coin was very skillful and straight-forward, the head of Herakles is most impressive and powerful, the engraver of the reverse die seems to have been playing with his technique! Notice how Zeus's legs appear to be out of proportion with his torso – as if the engraver was trying to show depth of field. In addition, while the bird Zeus holds should be an eagle, the long neck makes it look like a cross between an eagle and a goose!!
